Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of using computers in teaching Showdown on learning orientation skills among blind students. Methods: This quasi-experimental field research was conducted with a pretest-posttest design. For this purpose, 30 blind students (12 girls and 18 boys) fourth to seventh grade were selected using convenience sampling with an average age of 10 to 15 years. They were randomly assigned into three groups of 10: learning group of Showdown in a traditional method, computer-based learning group of Showdown and control group. The experimental groups participated in Showdown exercises for eight weeks, three 45-50 minutes sessions per week. Orientation skills of groups were measured before and after the training period and a week later (retention test) using a researcher-made test, and the data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and ANOVA repeated measures. Results: Results showed that training programs of teaching Showdown in the traditional way and using computers in teaching have been effective on orientation skills of participants (P< 0.5); however, there was no significant difference between two methods (P˃ 0.05). Conclusion: According to research findings, it is suggested that educators and educational authorities can consider teaching Showdown in the blind rehabilitation programs.
