چکیده [English]

Aim: Self-talk is discussed as a key component in sports psychology textbooks. Therefore, the current research was compiled with the aim of structural relationships of coaching behaviors, self-esteem and personality traits with the self-talk of elite young athletes. Methods: The research method was descriptive-correlation based on structural equations. The statistical population of this research includes all elite young Iranian athletes aged 18-28 who are professionally active. The sampling method was a cluster method. The sample size was 345 people and was considered available. In order to collect data, four standard questionnaires were used in this research. Pearson's correlation coefficient and structural equation tests were used to analyze the data. Results: The results showed that coaching behaviors and self-esteem have a positive effect on the positive self-talk of athletes, and coaching behavior has a negative effect on negative self-talk. Also, among the personality traits, extroversion, flexibility, adaptability and conscientiousness had a positive effect on positive self-talk and neuroticism had a negative effect. Also, neuroticism has a positive effect on negative self-talk. Conclusion: It is suggested that in order to improve the self-talk and the performance of young athletes in sports situations, personal and individual factors as well as coaching behaviors and relationships between coaches and athletes should be paid attention
