purpose :The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different doses of nicotine on information processing speed in athletes and non-athletes. Method: Sample of this study via a General Information Questionnaire, for determining of the level of the physical activity participation, from male college students of Kharazmi University were selected (36 athlete, 36 non-athlete). Each group of 36 male was randomly divided into three subgroups of 12 (4, 2, and 0 mg nicotine gum). In order to ensure the health and no history of drug use, particularly smoking cigarette, a general health screening form was used. This study was an semi-experimental and applied one. The data were collected using a choice reaction time system (Vienna. In addition to descriptive statistics,Univariate Analysis of Variance was used (α=0.05). results : The results show that there was no significant differences between choice reaction time means in terms of groups (P=0.353) or type of intervention (P=0.646),but only the interaction of factors (group*intervention) in both athletes and non-athletes was a little significant (P=0.050).while, there was significant differences between choice reaction time error (CRTe) means in terms of group (P=0.001), intervention (P=0.001) and the interaction of them (P=0.001) in both athletes and non-athletes. Conclusion: our results indicate that there were no differences between information processing speed of athletes and non-athletes before and after different doses of nicotine administration
