Objective: The aim of this study was to predict the participation motivation of female students in sports based on body-self relations dimensions.
Methods: The statistical population was female students in Qarchak city with an age range (of 16-18 years) and the statistical sample included 350 female students with a mean age (16.88 ± 0.72 years) selected by random method. A questionnaire on Multidimensional Body-Self Relations and participation motivation in sports activities was used.
Results: Pearson correlation test showed there was a significant positive relationship between body-self relations and participation motivation in sports for female students. multivariate regression analysis showed that out of 10 components of body-self relations dimensions, in the first model, only the physical satisfaction with 15% of the variance of the criterion variable, and in the second model, the physical satisfaction (13.7) and tendency to fit (22.5%) of the variance of the criterion variable explain positively and significantly.
Conclusion: According to the results, sports coaches and physical education teachers of Qarchak city are suggested to emphasize may be the importance of growth and improvement of body-self relations dimensions of students' bodies. In the physical education classroom, body-self relations are developed and goals are set to increase students' motivation to participate in higher sports activities.
