Purpose: The present of study was to examine the effect of distribution practice and judgment of learning on acquisition and retention of basketball pass skill. Methods:In this semi experimental study, 60 girl novice students with mean age 14.48 ± 0.37years old were objectively selected, and then those randomly and equally located in four groups of 15 individuals massed, distributed, massed - judgment of learning, distributed- judgment of learning. In pretest phase, participants performed 10 trials basketball chest pass. In acquisition phase, massed group and massed - judgment of learning performed 240 basketball chest pass. Distributed group and distributed - judgment of learning during 4 consecutive sessions, and each session with 60 trials. And also, Metacognition groups, in addition performance pass, participants to predict their scores in the next block. In the post-test and the retention tests were performed after one day, 7 days and 28 days, participants performed 10 trials. Results: The results indicated that distribution practice groups with judgment of learning have better performance in acquisition, retention phases to other groups. (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of the present study emphasize the importance of role of metacognition in practice conditions.
