Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Pilates exercise on body image, body mass index and fat percentage in sedentary women. Methods: This research was Semi experimental study. The subjects contain 41 healthy inactive women were randomly divided into three groups. experimental and control groups with mean age and body mass index 21.88 ± 2.17 and 23.06 ±3.57 kg/cm2 respectively. The experimental groups completed eight-week Pilates training and control group continued their daily activities without intervention. Results: Data were collected before and after body image test and other measurements. Data were analyzed by Student's t test at the significant level of 0.05. The results of this study showed that eight weeks of Pilates training in the exercise groups caused to significantly (P0.005). Also there were significant change in body mass index (P=0.024) and body fat percentage (P=0.017) after exercise compared with the control group. Conclusion: The findings show that although Pilates training could not reduce the body weight (P=0.153), in a short period of eight weeks, but it can change in their attitude. This can widely effect on mental health and related indicators.
