Abstract

Purpose: Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the short form of the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire in athletes from Tehran.
Methods: This research falls under non-experimental research and focuses on instrument validation. Data was collected cross-sectionally to assess the validity and reliability of the Persian version of the short form of the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire. A sample of 400 athletes was selected, with 60 individuals chosen for a test-retest reliability assessment. Confirmatory factor analysis, based on a structural equation model, was used to determine construct validity. Internal homogeneity was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and temporal reliability was evaluated using a two-week interval for the test-retest method. Statistical calculations were performed using SPSS version 18 and AMOS version 20 software.
Results: The results of the confirmatory factor analysis indicated a good fit for the Persian version of the short form of the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire among athletes (C.F.I=0.958, T.L.I=0.955, RMSEA=0.042, and P.N.F.I=0.078). The internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha coefficient) of the entire questionnaire was 0.924, with a temporal reliability of 0.83.
Conclusion: The Persian version of the short form of the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire demonstrates acceptable validity and reliability in Tehran athletes. Coaches, athletes, and researchers can utilize this questionnaire to assess happiness.
