Introduction: With the development of sports psychology, the discussion of the effect of psychological skills on sports performance has become very important. The aim of this study was to investigate the structural relationships between mindfulness and social physique anxiety in women regarding mediating role of sports participation motivation.
Methods: The statistical population of this study included all female customers of bodybuilding and aerobics clubs in Sabzevar that among them 130 persons selected by available sampling method. Also data were collected using the Sports mindfulness, Social physique Anxiety and Motivations for women's participation in sports questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling.
Result: The results showed that mindfulness has a significant relationship to social physique anxiety (T=2.21) and sports participation motivation in women (T= 10.29). As, it reduces social physique anxiety and increases sports participation motivation in women. Also, sports participation motivation in women as a mediating variable didn't show a significant relationship on social physique anxiety (T=1.42) and wasn't confirm in the research model.
Conclusion: Finally, it can be concluded that the use of mindfulness techniques as a supportive or preventive factor is very effective in preventing the negative evaluation of body shape (social physique anxiety) and lowering sports participation motivation in women.
