The effects of learning model, skilled model on Acquisition, Retention Motor Proficiency with emphasis on Basic Gymnastics Skills

Abstract

Aims and background : The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of learning model, skilled model on Acquisition, Retention Motor Proficiency with emphasis on Basic Gymnastics Skills.

Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted. Participants of the random and available samples divided into different group. After the pre-test, the learning group was trained in 12 sessions of fifty attempts with instructions and feedback, and the skilled model group watched a video of a professional performing an agility, static and dynamic balance test. The control group had no observations during the whole study period and only performed the tests.

Findings: Results of analysis of variance demonstrated that all two groups (learning and skilled groups), made considerable progress in learning of the desired skill from the pre-test to the acquisition test, and this progress was somewhat stable until the retention test (.05>p).. Also, there was no significant difference between the skilled model and the learning model in both the acquisition and retention stages(.05<p).

Conclusion: Based on these results, learning skills such as static balance, dynamic balance, agility, skilled and learning patterning method is more useful for students, educators, teachers and parents in terms of time and money, and leads to more and more sustainable learning.
