Political behavior is considered as one of the important and key tools in all human fields and its proper improvement has been considered as one of the constant concerns. The present study was designed and conducted to investigate the factors affecting the development of political psychology in Iranian professional sports. The method of the present study was qualitative. The statistical population of the present study included knowledgeable experts. In order to identify these samples, purposive sampling method was used. This sampling continued until the theoretical saturation was reached and finally 14 people were identified as samples in the qualitative section. Data collection tools included semi-structured interviews. In the present study, the existing tensions, supportive forces, competitive environment and mental pressures were identified as causal conditions for the development of political psychology in Iranian professional sports. In the present study, adaptation strategies and empowerment strategies for the development of political psychology in Iranian professional sports were identified. In the present study, sports and political consequences were identified as consequences of the development of political psychology in Iranian professional sports.
